About

About the Empire

A nation built on Slavic memory and Balkan history.

The Ilinijan Empire was founded in 2019 in Serbia by Emperor Ilija. It draws on the deep history of the Balkans and the language, faith and traditions of the old Slavic world. Ilinija sees itself not as something new, but as a continuation — a successor to the civilizations and peoples who shaped the Balkans before it.

Inheritance

Ilinija claims to be the successor of:

The Vincha Civilization

The Neolithic Vinča culture of the central Balkans (c. 5700–4500 BC), among the earliest known civilisations of Europe.

Nimrod

The mythic king and founder, recalled across the ancient Near East as a builder of cities and a hunter before the Lord.

The Illyrians

The ancient peoples of the western Balkans, whose name and memory carry through to the Empire's own.

Ilyon

The ancient city on the site of modern Skadar (Shkodër), a meeting place of cultures on the southern Balkan frontier.

Founder

The Empire was founded by Emperor Ilija, who continues to reign. The Ilinijan throne is hereditary and is bound by the principles of enlightened monarchy.
